Summary of Job Descriptions
Becoming a Master Electrician is in essence obtaining the doctorates degree in the electrical trade. This is obtained thru extensive education and experience in advanced electrical work, considerable understanding of the electrical code and construction blueprints, supervisory skills, and business/project management skills.
Journeyman Electricians are certified electricians having completed multiple years of on-the-job and classroom training and have obtained their Journeyman license from the Colorado Electrical Board. Must be experienced in electrical installs, reading construction blueprints, supervisory skills, troubleshooting circuits, and have reasonable knowledge of the electrical code. Also must be willing to supervise and coach junior apprentice electricians.
Apprentice Electricians are workers enrolled or soon to be enrolled in an apprenticeship program with the purpose of becoming certified Journeyman electricians. Their duties include completing tasks as assigned by their supervisors, learning the electrical trade on the job and in a classroom setting, and taking on additional job-related responsibilities and tasks as they progress.
